Born out of a merger between the Idaho Matadors and the
Boise Speed, the Spartans began play in
2009 as part of a "split squad" in both AA and AAA divisions.
This incarnation of the team played in the AA division from the
2009 and 2010 seasons finishing with a 3-13 record.
