Following the suspension and overall ugly end to the Waitsburg Elite season in 2015, Brandon Tate, longtime Walla Walla Stars standout tailback, took the reigns of the franchise and moved to Kennewick and began the rebuilding process of placing a team there that last saw the Knights call the Tri City area home in 2008.

The change also marked the beginnings of a merger of the remaining Washington League teams from the eastside, with the I-5 corridor of teams calling the Western Washingotn Alliance home.

In 2016 the Rage made a respectable run to the playoffs and a 5-5 season, setting the stage for the 2017 season and a deep, almost unexpected run that culminated in an appearance in the WWFA Championship game against the Puyallup Kings.   The result was almost identical to the regular season meeting but improvement was being made.

With some key additions including former Lousiana-Lafayette athlete Harry Peoples, the Rage looked poised for another great season.  Peoples set a GNFA mark accounting for 9 touchdowns including 3 on the ground in a rout of the Arlington Grizzlies.  Sporting an 8-0 record into the final week of the 2018 regular season, the Rage met fellow undefeated Wenatchee in a shoot out that saw the Rams score a long TD with :29 remaining in the game to take a 42-36 win.

Tri City reached the 2018 WWFA Championship for the second year in a row, losing for the second time on the season by 6 points to the Rams.  Peoples claimed Co-Player of the Year honors while placing his name in 14 record categories.

From almost first...to last.  The 2019 season started roughly as a last-minute announcement that the Arlington Grizzlies would jump ship from the North Central League to the reformed Northwest League, and becoming the Snohomish County Grizzlies, cost the Rage their opening game.  From there it was adversity that even the replacement of Harry Peoples with Adam Kruse for part of the season couldn't help.  The Rage lost their first six games before finally breaking the win column against Kitsap.  A loss the final week bounced Tri City from playoff contention and a 1-7 season came to a close.

Tate and the Rage aggressively put together a combination indoor-outdoor schedule with the Rage playing AWFC indoor games along with opponents from the North Central League.

Covid-19 shut down the 2020 season after one game with the Rage returning in July, traveling to Wendell, Idaho to take on the Wasatch Revolution in what was billed the "Liberty Bowl" where they suffered a 46-0 loss, and finished the season in August with a 36-6 over the eventual Washington State League champion South Sound Seminoles. When 2021 rolled around the Rage attempted a return as part of the Pacific Northwest Football League., however, continued lock-downs shelved the 2021 season as well, while Tate focused his efforts on building the Tri City Rush Indoor Professional team which won American Bowls II and III claiming the AWFC championships in 2021 and 2022.  The Rage would officially cease operations in 2021 as the Rush became the main focus of the ownership group and coaching staff.  Many of the Rage players would claim roster spots with the Rush.

Tate would announce the Rush ceasing operations in November or 2022 as back-to-back American Bowl champions.  Tate would remain active through 2025 with indoor teams in Oregon.
