Announced to be "resurrecting" the Bellingham Bulldogs for the 2025 season, the organizers received push-back from original Bulldog members who wanted the legacy of the team they had created and taken to regional prominence remain unchanged after shutting down in 2016.  After two months, it was decided to honor the Bulldogs and not co-op the name instead choosing to become the Whatcom Vikings.  Ironically, it would another long-standing team that would see it's image in the new team, as uniform colors and designs were the same as the Snohomish County Vikings which last played in 2017 after an attempt to reform in 2020 as the South County Vikings was stalled by Covid-19 lockdowns and only one game being played in 2021 before the season was forfeited due to low roster numbers.

Kicking off the 2025 season as part of the West Coast Pacific League, the new Vikings found rough handling as the first three games netted just 8 points against 145 by their opponents.
