A "junior" club of fast players (average 135 lbs), the Mohawks were named for the area of Portland they hailed from today associated with the Historical Mohawk Building. L. Crowe ripped off a 90-yard TD run to lead the 18-5 win over F.E.W.  F.E.W protested because star halfback Maguis had been loaned out to the Albina Juniors when Albina and F.E.W. played the week prior that F.E.W won 6-0.

That 18-5 win were the only points the Mohawks allowed during the 1911 season enroute to a 7-0-5 season winning the Archer-Wiggins Section I Championship.  When F.E.W. and Portland met for the championship, history was made as it took 5 weeks to decide a champion.  The Championship was slated for January 13th, 1912 and the two teams battled to a scoreless tie.  Archer-Wiggins League rules were such that, the teams would play a new game the following week to decide the winner.  This played out for four weeks as the teams dueled to 0-0 ties on January 13, 21, 28 and Feb 4.  Finally, on February 11th, 1912, the Mohawks secured the win and the championship 5-0.  But, the season wasn't over even yet.  Waiting for the winner were the Sunnysiders of Portland, Section II Champions.  The Mohawks were given an extra week break before the Archer-Wiggins Championship game was played on February 24th.  Another knock-down, drag-out ensued with Sunnyside escaping with a 4-0 win over the Mohawks, a heartbreaking loss and the only one of the season.  At the time, it was the longest season of football ever played in Portland taking 17-weeks to determine the A-W League Champion.

The 1912 season bit off a bit more than they expected in a 48-0 white-washing at the hands of Columbia Park.  The revamped Archer-Wiggins League was much tougher in 1912 and the Mohawks could not repeat the 1911 feat finishing 4-4-2.
