Team Story:
If playing just for the love of the game is your motto, the Guardians
epitomized that in their first year. Nearly setting a regional
record for giving up the most points in a season, the 0-8 effort was
nearly perfection, except for the one touchdown scored, the Guardians
were shut out the entire season.
2013 through 2015 were continued efforts in futility as the team went
1-23 with its sole victory being a 2013 match up with the newly formed
Idaho Lancers. By 2014 the Lancers improved, smashing the Gem
State team 51-0. This time, 2014 was "perfection" as the team went
scoreless.
Following another winless 2015 season, the Guardians left the RMFL for
the Idaho Contact League. They would venture out to play the
Treasure Valley Invaders, midway through the 2017 season ending one of the longest losing streaks in
Northwest history at 30 games.
Another league change in 2019 to the Idaho Alliance hoped to add even
competition to the slate and an early 10-0 loss to the Idaho Phoenix
indicated that may be true. But blowouts to Magic Valley and Mini
Cassia followed by the demise of the Phoenix and the pre-season shut
down of Ogden, led to an 0-5 season.
Rejoining the ICFL for the Covid-shortened 2020 season, the Guardians
improved down the stretch finding some offense but repeated the 0-5
season from a year ago, but landed a 1st Team defense selection in
defensive end Freddie Brown who recorded 5 sacks on the season.
For the first time in franchise history, the 2021-2022 squad posted
back-to-back multiple win seasons with identical 2-6 records for the
warriors finishing their 11th season. Garrison Roach garnered 1st
Team league honors at linebacker.
