After the inaugural 2016 "winter" season, a long-running Corvallis team of 9-man players placed their hat in the ring for the Pacific Northwest League Summer schedule and the Benton Bulldawgs were added to the second season.  It was apparent from the beginning, the Bulldawgs were a step ahead as they blew out fellow newcomers, Nightmare and Venom by a 45-point average, following that up with a Week 3 dispatching of the first season runners-up Rip City Mafia 48-0.

Defensive Tackle Garth Schilling led the defense winning defensive player of the weeek honors.  Quarterback Ryan Jones took offensive honors in Week 2 throwing for 4 TDs and rushing for a 5th.  Running Paul Johnson would take offensive honors in Week 3 with 3 rushing touchdowns.  Garrett Schnell would earn a special teams player of the week honor as well.

Rolling undefeated and unscored upon, the final regular season game against the Mafia was played under 9-man rules.  A rematch with the Sentinels in the Championship was a hard-fought battle with Benton wrestling away a 16-6 victory to take the crown in the summer session.

The Bulldawgs, previously located in Salem, Oregon as the Capital City Enforcers returned to 9-man football and thus, ended the Benton run in the PNFL.

Colby Jackson would be one of many former Bulldawgs to go on to star with the South Lane Buzzards.
