Playing as the North Vancouvers Cougars Juniors in 1957, the Wildcats made the step up to Intermediate play over the summer of 1958 and immediately challenged for mainland honors taking the title from defending champion Surrey.  The Wildcats were not quite ready to take the BC Championship though being blown out by the Oak Bay Drakes 42-0.

Originally the "Wildcats" at the start of the 1959 season, Pete Thodos renamed the team the "Columbians" midseason prior to playing the Drakes.

The Columbians upset defending champion Victoria to win the BC title 16-12 on Halloween night.

Playing in Winnipeg against St. Vital, Coach Thodos complained about the field conditions claiming "It was absolutely stupid."  18 players were carted off the frozen field.

Cec Steveson scored the lone Vancouver TD when he caught a pass from Mike Davies.  Rod Pantages kicked two singles.

1959 All Stars:

Mike Davies (QB)

Ed Hamilton (HB)

The 1960 squad battled Victoria back and forth for 1st place, taking the BC crown with a 15-6 win on Oct 29.  The following week, hosting the Alberta Province Champion Drumheller Miners, the Drakes fell 8-0 closing out the season.

In May 1961 it was announced in The Vancouver Sun that the Grizzlies were "forced to quit" due to no money and nowhere to hang their helmets.
