The Coyotes attempted to form at the same time the Blue Mountain Stars relocated to Hermiston, Oregon.  The area could not support two teams and by the time their first game was slated to kick off, the team did not have the players.  The game was forfeited and the franchise dissolved on March 7th, 2010.  The following year, the Umatilla Panthers would form with former Hermiston Hurricanes at the helm.
