In September of 1951, Coach Carl Krisko, faced with a shortage of players and equipment decided to shut down operations, leaving the league with only two members left.  On Sep 15 and the Lions were back in the Big Four.  The Lions were allowed to play with over-age (22+) men in order to stabilize the league.
