Created by Rajiem Seabrook in late 2004 as a Missoula entrant to the Rocky Mountain League and immediately became fierce competitors with the Helena Titans winning both outings in 2005 by a total of three points on their way claiming the RMFL Montana Division crown in their first season.  The road was rockier outside Montana with Wasatch out of Utah blasting the Raptors 51-0 and the Idaho Mustangs posting a 51-14 win over Missoula.  Idaho would again claim a victory in the second round of playoffs as the Boise Roughriders knocked Missoula out 33-20.

Missoula would open the 2006 season with a trip to Burbank, Washington to take on the Yakima Mavericks in a non-league matchup.  The second-year Mavericks were building a contender in the Evergreen Football League and promptly knocked off the Raptors 32-7.  Missoula, looking to claim the Montana crown once more continued to dominate Helena, Great Falls and Glacier, but new kids on the block Bitterroot Blaze had Missoula's number behind a record-setting Player of the Year in Justin Nixon.  The Blaze posted both RMFL losses to the Missoula record during the regular season before Utah's Davis Vipers ran away with a 28-6 playoff win.  Missoula still claimed the Northern Division on the back of losses by the Blaze to the Great Falls Gladiators.

Internal deliberations led to the creation of the Missoula Phoenix for the 2007 season and ended the Raptors franchise.  The Phoenix would face Bitterroot for the 2007 RMFL AA Championship.
