With uniforms inspired by the Oregon Ducks collegiate team, the
Bills were formed in 2019 to compete in the expansion of the Pacific
Northwest Football League.
The Bills experienced one of the most awkward debuts of a new team
in quite some time. The original March 2nd opener with the
Rip City Mafia was postponed due to
state-wide inclement weather. A bye week immediately during
week 2 led into their week 3 on-field debut with the
Willamette Valley Vikings only to suffer
a 30-24 set back...or so they thought. The loss to the Vikings
was vacated after the PNFL announced Willamette Valley used an
ineligible player. Finally on March 23, the Bills played their
first "official" game being blasted by the
Sentinels.
The Bills would get in the win column the next week, only to give
out a forfeit the following week. The Bills would manage one
more on-field victory to finish the season 2-4.
Invited to take part in the ICFL vs PNFL challenge to kick off 2020,
the Bills surprised many with a 12-8 victory over the
Boise Savage. The PNFL season
was canceled a week later due to the Covid-19 scare which continued
into 2021. The Bills got one game in, an "exhibition" game
against a team calling themselves the "Salem Spartans" made up of
various players from around the League.
When 2022 finally kicked off, the Bills found themselves in the
basement finishing 0-8. Elijah Polk had a standout performance
earning all-league honors as a return specialist, something he got
plenty of work at. Brandon Figgs was also honored by the
league for his efforts. Artie Patterson became one of the
oldest players in the region at the age of 55 during the Bills '22
season.
Failing to score offensively in the final three games, the Bills
along with the PNFL became another footnote to history as neither
returned in 2023. Only two teams represented the entire State
of Oregon that year, the long-standing
South Lane Buzzards and the
newly formed I-5 Cobras.
