Zac Jockumsen

Boise Roughriders, Boise Speed, Treasure Valley Spartans, Boise Generals

Linebacker

2003 - 2016

A five-time Defensive MVP in the Rocky Mountain Football League, Zac Jockumsen became one of the most highly decorated linebackers in regional history over the course of 14 seasons.

A three-sport standout in football, wrestling and baseball at Idaho Falls High School, the 1998 grad went on to Ricks College until injury ended his college playing days.  The story, as with many minor league players, doesn't end there.  Recovered and still with competitive juices flowing, Jockumsen made his debut with the Boise Roughriders in 2003 where he earned back-to-back defensive MVP honors as the top defender in the RMFL and added an Honorable Mention from the American Football Association All-America team in 2003.

Over the course of the next seven seasons, Zac would be named 1st Team All-RMFL in '03, '04, '06, '08, '10 and '11 while raking in three more MVP awards on three different teams.  Zac was the RMFL tackles champion five times from 2003-2009 setting  records for tackles in a game with 17, and tackles in a season with 105.5.  He also held the #2 slot for tackles in a game with 16.5.  Only when the injury bug was biting did his production drop off.

In 2013, the Boise Generals, led offensively by former Boise State quarterback B.J. Rohde, claimed the RMFL AA title and Zac was there again in the top 5 for team tackles with 28.5, leading the team with 2 fumble recoveries and pitching in 3.5 sacks.  In 2014 he was again one of the teams top five tacklers, just a half tackle behind former University of Washington defensive end Mike Mapu, a Junior College All-American at Mesa CC (2002), and 2012 teammate with the Spartans.

Nine years after the franchise shut down, a new "Boise Roughriders" was born in the Idaho Contact League for 2015, so it was only fitting for the linebacker to return to ride again where it all started in 2003, back for his final two seasons to finish out a stellar career retiring as a Roughrider.
