1895 Northwest Player of the Year

James "Big Jim" Hooper

Guard

Butte Football Club

From Butte, MT to Ann Arbor, MI, the name Big Jim Hooper was known as one of the most dominant football guards in the game during the 1895 season.

His play with and coaching of the Butte Football Club to a 12-3 split season record, sandwiching his play with the University of Michigan football squad, made him the most sought after footballer in the West.  Towering over the field at 6'3", the solid 215 pounder cost Glenn "Pop" Warner $80 and the shirt off his back when Hooper and Butte defeated Iowa State Ag College on September 15th.
